Elaine Forrest

“Since graduating from the drawing and painting department of E.C.A in 2004, my artwork has gone in various directions depending on the demands of the commission, exhibition space and my own personal responses to the world around me.
While I prefer not to be pigeonholed in the pursuit of my art, my first love is painting and the work the gallery currently holds is a response to the forces of nature encountered on a field trip to Iceland.
The paintings are constructed in layers of pure pigment and hot beeswax, melting the wax, scraping back, adding new layers, using a method that emulates the forces of nature while responding to random and unexpected effects”
