Madeleine Davenport

Born: Edinburgh 1960.
Education: Kilgraston
University of Edinburgh M.A. (Honours) in Fine Art 1978-83.
Exhibitions include: the R.S.A., R.S.W., Visual Arts Scotland and the Arbroath Open Art Competition, as well as in a number of private galleries in Scotland.
Elected as a professional member of V.A.S. in 2004. My work is included in collections in Britain, the U.S.A. and Europe.

My paintings reflect my interest in the natural and built environment. I am interested in the effects of light and the change of seasons, for this reason I prefer to paint landscapes in the autumn and winter when the colours of the countryside are richly subtle and the shapes starkly delineated. I work in the mediums of oil, watercolour and gouache.
