Lynn Bunis
Artists statement: As my quilting work has evolved over the past 15 years, I realise that I am perfecting my ability to create abstract designs as well as to paint pictures with fabric. The delight I get in finding a fabric that has just the right texture, shading and nuance to look like old paint on a weathered boat, the face of a black-faced sheep, or the play of light on a distant mountain is exciting and energizing. Abstract work is more difficult; little about it comes easy to me. That is why I have tried to do more of it in recent years. Painting pictures – whether real or imagined – and telling stories, or taking you where I’ve been, brings me most joy.
