The Crucifixion

“This painting explores the mystery of life after death through the subject of The Crucifixion. The Crucifixion is deliberately restructured so it is as difficult to actually see, nearly as much as it is difficult for me to believe that Jesus was the son of God. However, the painting remains optimistic that death is not the end and that the man crucified just might be God's son. The crown of thorns outline the position of Christ's face as does the yellow halo. There are various symbols such as the water turning into wine emerging from a cloud that forms the horizontal part of the cross.
The eye represents God and the butterfly a symbol of the Resurrection. The sky is structured in such a way that it represents a tomb.” – Andrew Galbraith
