Marie has had many influences over the years, both from her friends on the Glasgow art scene and from various movements in painting history. There is a strong impressionistic vein in her work, which may well be more from shared interests and aesthetic philosophy than an actual desire to be an impressionist. This work shows such power and honesty that it has drawn many to patronise Marie's copious successful exhibitions all over the country
