“Inspired by the Beatles song of the same name, and also the blackbird that sings at night while nesting in my garden in the summer. I had been playing the acoustic part of the song on my guitar at a time when I discovered that blackbirds really do sing
'in the dead of night' just like the line in the song says. Coincidentally the blackbird started singing late at night in my garden around the time I had been playing the music.” – Andrew Galbraith
