The work of Graham McKean has appeared in many quality publications and has been favorably reviewed by respectable people in the field. His work has been described by the late art critic W. Gordon Smith as “a cross between the painters John Byrne and Sir Stanley Spencer with an interesting ‘bite’ to it”. The latter being a major influence for the methods Graham uses to create his paintings.

Graham doesn't use models when he is painting his figures, as he feels that creating a painting goes beyond the physical image of a model and is strongly influenced by thought and imagination. At times his work has been described as humorous, but he treats every painting with the utmost seriousness and sincerity.

Graham's work is known worldwide and held in private collections across Europe and the USA .His paintings have also successfully supported many major charity events and auctions, including the British Red Cross, Help The Aged, and Save The Children.
