Sue grew up in the West Country, on the edge of Dartmoor, family holidays were spent on the North Cornish Coast. Her love of that rugged landscape led her to do a degree in geology, Sues fascination for rocks, textures and the sea are dominant forces in all her work.

She is interested in the ever changing environment, the forces of nature, and also our interaction with it.

Sues interest lies in how these forces, combined with time have created such textures. How wind can erode rock faces. Water shape coral reefs. How volcanic eruptions can lift and upturn strata of rock. How the process of degradation continues, with the elements carving out these formations, creating interesting and contrasting rhythms and patterns with the earths surfaces.

More recently, Sue has been spending time in the Caribbean, entranced by the depth of colour, and lush vegetation, found in the tropics her work has become, richer and more vibrant in colour.

Through her sand cast sculptural pieces, she attempts to capture this dynamic relationship by shaping the glass whilst hot, and once annealed, cutting and polishing the glass, to reveal the mesmerizing interior, often combining her work with sandstone, slate and metal.

She has recently been selected for the Artists Access to Art scheme at Wolverhampton University where she exploring new techniques to create a body of work exploring the colour and shapes of minerals found in rocks.
